Got a weird call from someone who sounded like Antonio Banderas in "Puss in Boots"...but Puss in Boots it was not. It was a Spanish airport police officer calling at the request of our Irish friend and informing us that, not at all to our surprise, there were complications preventing our friend from reaching his final destination of Dublin. RyanAir, the airline on which he had tickets from Madrid to Spain, was requiring a 90 Euro fee to be paid for boarding - a charge we hadn't known about and a significantly higher amount than what our friend had in his pocket. We believe verything worked out, we were able to make the payment long-distance and we are hoping he will be arriving in Ireland within the next hour or so.
