Yesterday our time of blessing God with our friends was so sweet... We were a ragtag bunch: a single mom who is a missionary and is struggling to keep her chin up in an unusual situation, a couple who just lost their old jalopy because of a hit-and-run (they were hit and the other guy ran); a couple who loves children and have been unable to conceive and - due to their itinerant missionary lifestyle - have also been unable to adopt; a European missionary family that has chosen to move far from the city to a place where they are not being welcomed with open arms and where they will squeeze their five children into a two room house with sketchy plumbing in its one bathroom. Home schooling is not one of her areas of giftedness; a couple who still feels called to missions but aches with exhaustion and longs for renewed passion... We focused on Habakuk, sang together and expressed our thanks to God and blessed His name. We also ate alot. One of those who expressed thanks to God was our friend from prison. Yesterday he miraculously received his papers from immigration. These, however, state that he has 72 hours to leave the country before being re-imprisoned. This would have been a source of new stress and worry had not God had the foresight (which, after all, is one of His best qualities) to already have had the Irish consulate help with the purchase of the tickets for Saturday - kind of by faith. We are all so very thankful for that.
